WWE, under the brand of RAW, has inscribed the Ghanaian-American wrestler. Kofi has made his different image in WWE with his all styles and moves. Kofi Kingston was so much passionate about wrestling since his childhood that he even quit his corporate job for it. The team consisted of Kofi, Xavier Woods and Big E. Despite of it’s record, there were mixed reviews about the team. 

Moreover, his passion and dedication towards wrestling made him won different championships. “Pro Wrestling Illustrated” (PWI) placed him in the 20th position in the list of best wrestlers in 2013. S.O.S, Trouble in paradise, Boom Drop, Pendulum Kick, Diving Cross Body, Corkscrew Plancha, etc are some of his cool moves used in the ring.

Early Life

Elizabeth Sarkodie-Mensah gave birth to Kofi in Kumasi, Ghana on August 14, 1981, with the name Kofi Nagaje Sarkodie-Mensah. His father is Kwasi Sarkodie-Mensah. Kofi had his brother Kwame and sister Nana Akua to make his childhood memories. Unfortunately, his sister Nana Akua left the world in 2015.

The family migrated from Ghana to the US when Kofi was young. Kofi Kingston completed his high school from “Winchester High School” in Massachusetts. Then, he completed his degree in communication from “Boston College.”

Career

Kofi was an employee of a corporate house. But the desire to wrestle in the ring was provoking him a lot. Hence, he left the job as it was not interesting enough for him. Then he went to Ohio Valley Wrestling School for the training. 

His wrestling career officially began in 2006. He fought his debut match against Tony Omega at “Chaotic Wrestling” on February 24. Then, after 4 months he participated in a championship. He fought against Evan Siks for the “PWF Mayhem Heavyweight Championship” on June 4.

Kofi was part of an audition held in his wrestling school in which WWE producers were present. It became one of the great opportunities in his life. The producers invited him to Atlanta to participate in the “Deep South Wrestling” (DSW).  Then, he inscribed the contract with WWE in September 2006. We allocated him to DSW. He fought his first match with the name “Kofi Nahaje Kingston” against “Montel Vontavious Porter” on September 21. 

Kofi Kingston was part of a tag team with Harry Smith in “Ohio Valley Wrestling” (OVW) and DSW until early 2007. He fought against Trevor Murdoch as well as Charlie Hass after his placement in the WWE roster in late 2007. 

Then, time drives him towards another championship. Kofi paired up with Eric Perez against Rycklon Stephen and Keith Walker for “Florida Championship Wrestling” in June 2007. He was part of the championship until late of the year.

 He won his debut match against David Owen in Charlottesville on January 22, 2008. He also suffered elimination at the pre-show of “Wrestle Mania XXIV.” He lost against Mark Henry. Likewise, in another match, he again lost against Shelton Benjamin in April 2008. But succeeded to won against Benjamin on “Extreme Rules” in June. 

Moreover, another championship knocked on his fate. Kofi Kingston defeated Chris Jericho in the “Intercontinental Championship” in 2008. He was a member of the Raw roster at that time. This match was a historic and memorable one. Both the intensities of wrestlers astonished everyone. Beth Phoenix and Santino Marella defeated Kofi and Mickie James in a tag-team match.

Kofi Kingston tied up with CM Punk for the “World Tag Team Championship” on October 27, 2008. They won the title. 

Moreover, Kofi defeated Chris Jericho at “Money Bank XXV”. He got the spot in “Money in the back-ladder match” after the match. Then he won the title of “US Championship” on June 1, 2009, against Montel Vontavious Porter. 

There were many wins and losses in his career. But it is part of a championship. And kept going ahead. Then, Kofi published a book along with his members of “The New Day” titling “The Book of Booty. Shake it. Love it. Never Be It” in 2017. He was also part of the SmackDown Live as the replacement of Mustafa Ali in February 2019.

Relationship/Family

After enjoying lots of highs and lows of his career, he got a new meaning for his life. He decided to enter the institution of marriage. Kofi exchanged ring with model and actress Kori Campfield on September 11, 2010. The couple has two sons: Khi and Orion. Khi was born in 2013 and Orion in April 2016.
