Lakiha Spicer, her father Shamsuddin Ali, and her mother, Faridah Ali (Rita Spicer), were charged in September 2004 with engaging in an embezzlement operation to acquire wealth and assets through coercion and bribery schemes.
Spicer was subjected to four years of house arrest and probation. Her father was sentenced to nine years in prison until 2013, and her mother to a year in jail.
