Heckard, of Korean-American descent, got a breakthrough on television when she played Jazz in the popular BET series The Game. She portrayed Jazz until the show’s last season in 2015. When she played Tonya in ATL in 2006, she also became well-known. Her next notable role was as Rochelle Davis in the 2012 film Back Then. Heckard subsequently took a vacation from filming and hasn’t been in any reality programs or movies since. However, her performance as Jazz in The Game has made her more famous than any of her prior cinematic roles.

In terms of her personal life, Lashontae started dating pop artist Nelly and married Monique Blanton. After that, she started dating basketball player Brandon Jennings, who was still rumored to be dating actress Teyana Taylor at the time.
