Early life
Rockwell was born on 5th November of 1968 in the Daly City of California in the United States. He grew up in the city of San Francisco county; therefore, he belongs to American nationality. He is the son of Pete Rockwell and Penny Hess, who were the actors and actresses of their generation. When he was just five years old, his parents got divorced, so he started living with his father only, but he had a good relationship with his mother and visited her during the vacations.
Sam Rockwell attended the San Francisco School of the Arts, which was in his city. He enjoyed his life to the fullest but later decided to follow in his father’s footsteps. So, he joined the William Esper Studio for Professional Actor Training Program after moving to New York City.

After moving to New York, Sam Rockwell made his film debut in 1989, where he earned his appearance in the film Clownhouse. Those years, he was also training in William Esper Studios to improve his acting skills. The following year, he appeared in the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as Head Thug. He continued appearing in films like Box of Moonlight, Jerry and Tom, The Call-Back, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Green Mile and received more attention from the science fiction film Galaxy Quest in 1999.
In 2000, Sam Rockwell appeared in the hit action film Charles Angeles as Eric Knox; then, he was starring in the film Heist as Jimmy Silk in 2001. In 2002, he landed the leading role in the biographical comedy film Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, where he portrayed the character of Chuck Barris. Bush. His performance as Jason Dixon earned him the Academy Awards, British Academy Film Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and other major awards for Best Supporting Actor in 2018. He also earned countless other nominations in the following years.
