Sigourney Weaver was born on 8th October of 1949 in the New York City of United States. Her full name is Susan Alexandra “Sigourney” Weaver, and she was born to a famous English actress named Elizabeth Inglis. Her father, Sylvester “Pat” Weaver, was also a famous television executive of his time. Weaver came from a wealthy family where her parents and relatives were famous and successful stars in their generation.

Weaver went to Chapin School and Brearley School for her schooling. While in Manhattan, she was in Ethel Walker School, a private school that still exists. As for her college, she joined Sarah Lawrence College, and later, she graduated from Stanford University California with a Bachelor’s degree in English.

Her first play performance was Better Dead Than Sorry, which was performed in Yale Repertory Theatre in 1971. She then appeared in various plays like Story Theatre, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, The Rat Trap, etc.

Weaver made her first Broadway debut in 1976 from Das Lusitania Songspiel, which she also co-authored herself. She earned the Drama Desk Awards nomination for her performance. In the film, she portrayed the main character Ellen Ripley, and her performance earned her BAFTA and Saturn Awards nomination. Following her success with Alien came the series Aliens in 1986, Alien 3, and Alien resurrection. Her performance in Aliens earned her first Saturn Award for Best Actress in 1986.

In 1988, she made another breakthrough from the film Working girl and The Ice Storm in 1997. She earned her first BAFTA Awards for Best Supporting actress in 1997, and later on, her performance in the film Gorillas in the Mist and Working Girl earned her Golden Globe Awards in 1988, making her first actress earn 2 Golden Globe Awards in a year. In 2009, she was awarded Saturn Awards for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in an animated superhit film Avatar.
