Terrorist Attack at Bourbon Street New Orleans?
Many photos and videos are circulated on social media where a truck was driven on the busy Bourbon Street on New Year’s Eve. At least 15 were killed and 30+ injured in the incident as of now. Investigators suggested the incident to be intentional and a potential terror attack.
Let’s know about the New Orleans French Quarter news. The incident occurred in Bourbon Street New Orleans at around 3:15 AM on New Year’s Eve. New Orleans news reporters have confirmed Shamsud Din Jabbar, 42, as the truck driver. He was driving a Ford pickup truck and hit people in the street relentlessly. Soon he died as said in the news New Orleans shooting.
FBI STATEMENT: The subject has been identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. citizen from Texas. He was driving a Ford pickup truck, which appears to have been rented, and we are working to confirm how the subject came into possession of the vehicle.
US President Joe Biden revealed that Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the suspect in the New Orleans incident, had released videos indicating he was motivated by ISIS hours before slamming a truck into a throng celebrating New Year’s.
42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar is a US citizen from Texas. He served in the army for 10 years. He graduated from Georgia State University in Computer Science. He killed innocent citizens while barrelling down the street. Police also found an ISIS flag in the truck. Weapons and a potential IED were found in the subject’s vehicle. Other probable IEDs were found in the French Quarter.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has mentioned it as an act of terror. An ISIS flag was discovered in the vehicle, and the FBI is investigating the subject’s possible links and affiliations with terrorist organizations. The suspects also fired at police after the incident. The FBI is the lead investigative agency, and we are working with partners to determine whether this was a terrorist incident. They are also actively working to find the subject’s associates to prevent future threats.
