Early Life

 

Timothée Chalamet’s full name is Tiimothée Hal Chalamet. He was born to Nicole Flender and Marc Chalamet in NYC on December 27, 1995. He lived in Manhattan Plaza which lies in Clinton as a child. His mother Nicole is a real estate broker and his father Marc is an editor in UNICEF. Chalamet has an elder sister named Pauline. Pauline is an actress and lives in Paris. 

Chalamet is bilingual and can fluently speak French and English.  When Chalamet was around 13, he used to be a football coach and he coached kids from the age of six to ten. As a teenager, he wanted to become a professional soccer player. Growing up, Chalamet also spent time in France and this led to him developing cultural identity issues. 

After graduating middle school, Timothée got into “Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Arts and Performing Arts”.  His view towards acting changed after he entered the school. He had very good teachers and he was really impressed by this. He started thinking acting should be treated as a craft. After finishing high school in 2013, he starred in Cabaret and Sweet Charity. Timothée Chalamet appeared in commercials as a kid and even acted in horror films like “Clown” and “Sweet Tooth”. He played a recurring role in the drama “Homeland” and “Royal Pains”. He was nominated for a SAG Award along with the other cast members for “Homeland”. 

Timothée made his feature film debut with “Men, Women & Children”. He played a minor role in the film. In the same year, he appeared in the critically acclaimed Christopher Nolan film titled “Interstellar” in the role of Tom Cooper. The film grossed over US$ 675 million.

In “The Adderall Diaries”, he played the role of the teenage version of James Franco’s character.  He played in several more films and plays after this.

The breakthrough in his career came with the role of Elio in the film based on the novel written by André Aciman named “Call Me by Your Name”. The story dealt with the love between Elio and Oliver. Oliver is a university student staying at his family’s place. For this role, Timothée learned Italian, how to play piano, and guitar. Timothée Chalamet’s performance was critically acclaimed and led people to say that his excellent acting made other people look like they were acting.

He was featured in the list of best actors of the year by The New York Times. He won many awards and even got nominated for an Oscar under the category of “Best Actor”. Chalamet is to star as Paul Atreides in the sci-fi “Dune”. He is also to make a debut in London theatre with the play 4000 miles. He is also scheduled to play Bob Dylan in the biopic “Going Electric”.

Timothée Chalamet and Lourdes Leon were dating in 2013. She is the daughter of Madonna and they were classmates in high school. They even appeared in a play together. 

As of 2020, it is stated that he is dating Lily-Rose Depp. They have been spotted together many times in real life but tend to keep their presence low-key online as he likes to keep his personal life private.
